Biography

Steven Fenton graduated with a 1st Class Honours degree in Electronic & Information Engineering from the University Of Huddersfield, UK. Working at senior design level within the electronics industry he’s helped develop cutting edge technology within the professional and consumer marketplace. Roles have encompassed project management, design of video and audio compression systems, in-car audio, broadcast mixing console development, DSP, analogue audio design and low power embedded development. 

As a keen audio enthusiast, Steven also built and ran a commercial recording studio. Over a 12-year period, he built up a number of credits on album, single and remix releases.

Having completed a PhD at the University of Huddersfield his research interests include low power systems and sensing, health innovation and remote health / wound monitoring, audio quality measurement and signal processing, broadcast and audio systems. As an active member of the Audio Engineering Society, he regularly presents his research at international conferences. He is also a member of the Centre of Audio and Psychoacoustic Engineering at the University.

He is now employed by the University of Huddersfield as a Subject Area Leader in the Department of Engineering & Technology, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
