Steven Fenton graduated with a 1st Class Honours degree in Electronic & Information Engineering from the University Of Huddersfield, UK. Working at senior design level within the electronics industry he’s helped develop cutting edge technology within the professional and consumer marketplace. Roles have encompassed project management, video and audio compression systems, in-car audio, broadcast mixing console development, DSP, analogue audio design and low power embedded development.
As a keen audio enthusiast, Steven also built and ran a commercial recording studio. Over a 12-year period, he built up a number of credits on album, single and remix releases and continues to engage in production and mastering projects in his spare time.
Having completed a PhD at the University of Huddersfield his research interests include the measurement of audio quality in commercial music production, audio mastering, broadcast and audio systems. As an active member of the Audio Engineering Society, he regularly presents his research at international conferences. He is also a member of the Music Technology Research Group and Applied Psychoacoustics Lab at the University.
He is now employed by the University of Huddersfield as a Senior Lecturer in Music Technology and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
