Biography

Tarek is a Lecturer in Accounting and Finance in the Business  School. He joined the University of Huddersfield in January 2022. Prior to that, he was a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Nottingham and held a similar position at Nottingham Trent University. Tarek holds a PhD in Accounting and Finance from the University of Nottingham and is an Associate Fellow of the Advance HE (AFHEA). Tarek’s research has been presented in several international conferences, including the 2023 Conference of the BAFA Corporate Finance and Asset Pricing SIG (University of Nottingham), the 2021 International Corporate Governance Conference (Cardiff University), and the 2015 Annual Meeting of the American Accounting Association. Tarek has served as an Ad Hoc Reviewer for Academic Journals, including the Journal of Business Finance and Accounting (JBFA).

Tarek's current research interest lies in addressing contemporary issues in sustainable accounting (including social and environmental accounting) and corporate reporting (including CSR reporting, financial reporting, and political disclosure).
