Personal profile
Biography
Formally a Graphic Designer and traditional finished artist/visualiser, also became a digital packaging designer in a commercial field, promoting industrial products for major retail brands.
I graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Behavioural Sciences at Huddersfield University, specialising in psychology, sociology and philosophy.
In order to pursue my interest in Memory and Identity I began working with people with Alzheimers as an Activity Organiser, to improve motor activity, social interaction and quality of life.
I began teaching at Huddersfield University and contributed to a number of academic activities and creative industry liaisons, introducing Design and Emotion to the School of Art, Design and Architecture.
I have been with the University now for 17 years as Senior Lecturer, Placement Tutor, Business Development Consultant, Project Manager, and now Course Leader for Graphic Design & Animation.
My time has been spent developing my psycho-social specialism of user centred design and encouraging a cross-disciplinary approach to creative practice. Not only supporting students in preparation for the workplace, but fostering links with design industry partners and others for effective crative engagement, through live projects, guest lecture programme and industry workshop weeks.
