Tukun is a research fellow in the EPSRC Future Metrology Hub at the University of Huddersfield. He is currently researching the field of uncertainty, expert system, and specification & verification of the surface metrology. His academic duties include the teaching of Professional Studies and Information Technology, Mechanical Science and Dimensional Measurement Systems.
Tukun began his career as a product engineer in the camera industry. In 1995, Tukun worked in XEROX corp. undertaking sales and management role. In 2001, Tukun started academic life as a Master’s student at Huazhong University of Science and Technologies, China. In 2003, Tukun joined the Centre for Precision Technologies at University of Huddersfield. He obtained his PhD in measurement science in 2011 with a thesis entitled “Softgauges for Surface Texture.”
Tukun’s career in industry was varied: manufacturing engineering, quality management, marketing & business management. In Tukun’s academic career, his major area of expertise is in measurement science. He developed the software measurement standards for surface texture, which is distributed by National Physical Laboratory, UK. More recently Tukun has been involved in the design and development of an expert system for surface texture measurement.
