Biography

Dr. Xiaoyuan Liu joined the Institute of Railway Research (IRR), at University of Huddersfield as an Industrial Fellow in 2016.

He obtained his Master’s degree on Vehicle Engineering from the State Key Laboratory of Traction Power (TPL), Southwest Jiaotong University in 2012.

In 2016, he finished his PhD degree in Applied Mechanics from the Dipartimento di Meccanica, Politecnico di Milano (PoliMi).  During his PhD and Masters, he participated in several fundamental research projects within the railway industry, including the condition monitoring of vehicle suspension systems and wheel out-of-roundness (OOR)

He accomplished his PhD degree with the financial support by ‘Associazione Eugenio e Germana Parizzi’, a railway dedicated foundation, from 2013 to 2015.
