Personal profile

Biography

I joined University of Huddersfield in December 2024 as Lecturer of Psychology. Before this, I have taught in University of Chester and Manchester Metropolitan University. I am the module leader of Developmental Psychology and Professional Development module.

Research Expertise and Interests

I have gained my PhD degree in the area of Educational Psychology. My research interest focuses on early children's cognitive development, especially language learning, literacy aquisition and mathematics learning. I have interest in studying children's first language learning and second language learning. Some of my research involves Chinese children learning English as a second language to contrast the psychological mechanisms contributing to learning alphabetic languages (e.g., English) and learning non-alphabetic languages (e.g., Chinese). I have a strong interest in studying children's mathematics learning, ranging from counting to fraction learning. Most of my research is longitudinal studies. The statistical techniques to investigate the developmental trajectories of cognitive abilities include cross-lagged panel model (GCLM) , latent growth curve model (LGM) and longitudinal latent class models (LLCA).
