Project Details

Description

Since 2018 York Archaeological Trust (YAT) has been working with specialists at the University of Huddersfield to assess the interpretative offer at Barley Hall, its reconstructed medieval townhouse attraction (part of the JORVIK Group). The Contextualized Digital Heritage Workshop - York: Barley Hall represents a further collaborative project aiming at exploring narratives (developed with analogue and, especially, digital tools) through which the museum presents the building and its history to visitors. The event will involve participants with different background: experts (from different disciplines, architecture, archaeology, etc), laypeople, university students, JORVIK Group staff, Barley Hall volunteers etc. The two-day workshop will be an opportunity to:

to identify some research and interpretation priorities for Barley Hall;

to understand better local expertise on the building and the research and analysis already completed / available;

to co-produce mind maps/ideas that could inform the subsequent stages of the project.
