Project Details
Description
Most of the UK’s housing stock remains thermally inefficient, requiring retrofits to reduce energy usage. These retrofits are often evaluated through financial return, but combining historic building methods with new technologies can affect indoor air quality. Reduced ventilation may worsen health outcomes for residents with respiratory conditions. This research will develop a digital twin of homes to monitor environmental factors, alongside a qualitative study on resident engagement to the retrofit intervention, establishing the retrofit’s health impacts. HSHRF will develop a digital tool for accurate IAQ evaluation to establish correlation between retrofit and health outcomes, furthering policy development in retrofit framework.
