Developing the market proposition for Retrofit Ready - Facilitating Retrofit Rollout in Social Housing

Social housing retrofit is critical to achieving the UK’s net-zero targets, yet uptake remains hindered by tenant refusal and a lack of structured guidance for housing providers. The University of Huddersfield, in collaboration with Together Housing Association, has developed ‘Retrofit Ready’—a structured approach designed to systematize Version 3 Sep’23 Version 3 Sep’23 retrofit project implementation for housing associations. This Proof of Concept project will test and refine the approach across multiple organizations, leading to a scalable, commercially viable service that ensures the longterm sustainability of retrofit programs. By addressing implementation barriers, this project directly contributes to UK policy priorities in decarbonization, tenant wellbeing, and social housing strategy.
