Description
The University is undertaking a strategic review of its research portfolio as relating to defence and security (in line with the Government’s industrial strategy). The rapid response funding will be used to secure RA time to map out market opportunities, commercialisation and create a report on the feasibility of potential end-user engagement around the University’s commercial offer around policing and justice.
The IAA funding would directly support a skilled and experienced researcher in this field to undertake a scoping exercise of the sector against UoH internal strengths and opportunities mapped against IS-8 industrial priorities articulated by the Government in the recent Industrial Strategy.
The output would be used to develop and embed valuable insight and understanding of the defence sector which can then be used to inform a road map for identifying research priorities as related to the defence and security, sector challenges, a stakeholder engagement strategy and potential barriers/blind spots in engaging with the sector.
The output of this work will have a range of potential impacts for the University, including the articulation and mapping research strengths and expertise against a range of commercial and industrial partner requirements and challenges, increased reputation and profile with potential end-users/licensees of University IP and further opportunity to identify wider collaborative funding opportunities with industry partners.
Please note we’re requesting funding to cover both the RA time required to deliver the activity and, given the need to engage partners and stakeholders, travel costs to facilitate relationship building and engagement.
