Scaling Circular Construction: A pilot digital database system of construction materials for modular buildings

Building on the success of our ongoing projects with the modular building company Actiform to reuse waste materials from the factory to build community pavilions, this proposal addresses a critical challenge in construction: scaling the reuse of construction materials. It aims to co-develop a pilot material database system that embeds reuse strategies into professional practice. It draws on transdisciplinary knowledge in sustainable design and construction, alongside advanced database technologies, to systematically organise, connect, and share information on materials. The project will contribute to the sustainability objectives of Kirklees Council and the University, while supporting REF 2029 impact ambitions.
