Description

A novel type or class of antibacterial has been developed from self-assembled ‘cryptate’ systems. Self-assembly is the ability of chemical compounds to construct complex molecules from small sub-components allowing the production of a large variety of compounds quickly and efficiently. These self-assembled ‘cryptates’ as putative antimicrobial agents would be ‘first-in-class’ if successfully progressed to market. As the compounds can be modulated easily, they have the potential to combat anti-microbial resistance, as the molecules can be changed quickly counteracting the ability of bacteria to adapt and become resistant.
