Abstract

In this paper, a fast algorithm based on the discrete model of the second order Robust Gaussian regression filters for areal surface analysis is introduced. Simulated and measured engineering surfaces have been used to test the algorithm. Results show that with the same accuracy, the processing time of the fast algorithm for a typical 1024∗1024 points dataset is reduced to under several seconds from the several hours of the previous algorithm.
