Training is most effective when students learn from each other, writes Vanessa Taylor

Approximately 60 per cent of the 500,000 deaths each year in the UK occur in hospital, the majority following chronic illness. Most health and social care professionals will encounter terminally ill patients and their families at some point in their careers, so all professionals should have the skills to care for dying patients
