Abstract

This paper presents a novel sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) strategy for single- to three-phase matrix converter. The proposed strategy is simple to implement. Also an improved SPWM (ISPWM) strategy for decreasing total harmonic distortion (THD) is proposed. The performance of proposed SPWM strategy and ISPWM strategy are compared with each other. Detailed analysis is provided for Single to Three-Phase Matrix Converter with proposed strategies and a three-phase balanced R-L load, also proposed SPWM strategies is used for driving an induction motor. Validity of the proposed SPWM strategies is verified by simulation results.
