Abstract
This second piece/iteration/instance is the return of the suite’s themes, replayed after, and corrupted by, all the other variations: three movements become two, chaos organises itself, structures crumble. Moreover, the ‘aria da capo’ is the section in which a soloist traditionally demonstrates his/her virtuosity: a fitting bias for this piece’s concerns.
