Abstract

This study is an investigation of the behavior of silver during the leaching of a complex sulfide ore with ferric chloride (FeCl3) solutions. The effect of changes in temperature (between 288 and 363 K), FeCl3 concentration (between 0.5 and 4.5 M), sodium chloride (NaCl) concentration (between 2 and 3.5 M) and stirring speed on the silver dissolution has been investigated. Thermodynamic calculations were made and the kinetics of silver leaching was approached using the shrinking core model. For every dissolution step, the rate controlling process and the activation energy have been determined.
