Abstract
Decades of silence, under-recognition, and dismissal have limited research and into women's health and wellbeing challenges. By considering two examples: endometriosis and military experiences, we advocate for occupational therapy practice that moves beyond traditional medical models to fully comprehend, acknowledge, and address the impact on women's wellbeing and daily life. In line with the World Health Organization's priorities, the occupational implications of women's health issues are considered from a gender-responsive, equitable, and holistic perspective. By promoting gender-sensitive, culturally informed, and trauma-informed care, strategies and goals to foster more inclusive healthcare practices are considered. Reflecting on historical gender biases influencing the treatment and understanding of women's health and wellbeing, the need for prioritisation and comprehensive management of these long-neglected issues is called for as a contemporary practice and research priority. Developing frameworks to address women's invisible issues and manage complex challenges across their lifespan should prioritised, including policies to develop safe, accessible, inclusive, and gender-responsive environments with supportive resources in workplaces, primary health services, and educational institutions.
