Co-operative design based on multi-agent system

Competition demands better quality, faster delivery, and cost effective. Cooperative design based on multi-agent system is one of the recent technology developments benefited from the latest development of information technology and its application in conventional design process. In this paper, a review of the process of product design and its modelling and current state of art of cooperative design is given first; the concept of agent oriented system is deployed and a hierarchical architecture based on internet is proposed where the role of design manager as well as agents are clearly outlined; further consideration for system development is given to how to interactive with collaborators and customers. This approach relies on the experts to cooperate the works to be conducted by agents and is relative practical. The proposed system is to be implemented and tested. Future work may incorporate artificial intelligence to help experts in decision-making.
