Abstract

Cupwith was inspired by an abandoned sock on a fence, exposed to the effects of the weather in this exposed site high up on the Pennines. Using leno structures, soft and hard yarn combinations and unfinished edges to mimic the knitted texture of this slowly decaying sock, this piece aims to capture the unexpected beauty of textiles in the landscape.
