Abstract
Glossy magazines, TV programs and social media like to show you how to furnish our home according to the latest trends. However, the attention for the interior is much older and became more intense from the beginning of the 19th century. Then masses of manuals and magazines appeared with all kinds of useful tips. In addition, the interior space gained in importance in drawing and painting, where it became a popular subject. This increased interest in the interior was also shared by noble women in Belgium during the 19th and early 20th century.
