Abstract
A broadband X-band artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) is developed through the evolution of a slot-loaded circular patch. Cross ed-slot loading, symmetry breaking, and a central capacitive disk enable multi-resonant behavior, producing overlapping modes and a wide ±90° reflection-phase bandwidth of 53°/o (7-12 GHz) with reflection magnitude better than -0.3 dB. Dispersion analysis shows that the broadband response arises from modal coupling and impedance engineering rather than a conventional electromagnetic bandgap.
