Abstract

The private rented sector (PRS) is an important tenure for millions of households across the UK. The sector has diversified from the types of households ‘traditionally’ associated with the PRS (i.e. mobile young professionals, students and migrants) to providing housing to a wide variety of households including those with low-incomes, families with children, and people over 65. This chapter in the UK Housing Review Reader explores the recent developments in the private rented sector.
