Discontinuous Energy Pump Source AC/AC Converters

Abstract

In this paper novel Discontinuous Energy Pump Source (DEPS) AC/AC converters based on Cuk, Luo and Zeta pumps is presented. The proposed discontinuous energy pump source ac/ac converters can buck-boost amplitude of input ac voltage. For the proposed DEPS AC/AC converters, safe commutation strategy is presented. With the proposed ac/ac converters, low range of input-output voltage transfer ratio problem in direct PWM ac/ac converters can be improved. Presented converters have fewer energy storage components, common ground between input and output, lower THD in the output voltage and high efficiency. Simulation results verify validity and performance of the proposed converters.
