Abstract

Based on the analyses of the characteristics and perspective of product development, the concept of rapid virtual design based on virtual prototyping simulation is put forward. The architecture of design process management based on the integration of virtual prototypes, design process models and virtual organization models is presented. The objective and functions of each level of the architecture are discussed. Based on the analysis of traditional project management, project management of distributed cooperative product design in a virtual enterprise is put forward to adapt to distributed concurrent development of complex products. Design process management based on the integration of virtual prototype (VP) and design process model is studied. Based on the dynamic generation of design process model, Concurrent Engineering (CE) oriented design process management is discussed. Finally, human-centered organization of product development, namely intelligent enterprise, is also studied.
