Abstract
As part of the AHRC-funded project 'Ernest Berk: An Expressionist Outsider', Sam Gillies presents a spatialised performance of Berk's 1967 composition 'Diversed Mind'. Originally premiered at the first ever showcase of electronic music in England at Queen Elizabeth Hall, 1968 – alongside works by Delia Derbyshire, Daphne Oram, and Tristram Cary – 'Diversed Mind' showcases Berk's mastery of tape manipulation and represents a lost fragment of early electronic music in England.
