Exhibition of Scrolls

An exhibition of the 'scrolls' (Calvino, 1993) of sound created from the 'Put The Needle On The Record' project (2019-present). A series of audio waveforms printed on paper, set in wodden brackets and held in place with string, in a space lit by LED parcans. This 'Put The Needle On The Record' project involved the use of walking and dragging a luggage bag across the streets of America, thereby acting as a stylus to perform the sound of the streets. These audio recordings were visualised as printed waveforms and oriented into a vertical arrangement, envisaging the scrolls of sound that tell the past in one of Calvino's Invisible Cities (1993).
