Abstract

In this paper, we have reported published articles that used the machinery fault simulator (MFS) and MFS-Magnum machines developed by SpectraQuest as a tool to investigate the common faults developed in rotary machinery and further studies that help in condition-based maintenance. The aim of this survey is to provide a comprehensive review of published articles in the field of machine health monitoring performed with the machinery fault simulator (MFS). This survey will offer directions and recommendations for researchers who have MFS machines in their laboratories; moreover, it will also serve as a motivation for those who are thinking to obtain it. We have classified the literature into different topics and listed all papers with experimental results obtained from using the MFS machines. Misalignment, vibration, unbalance, shaft cracks, bearing faults, gearbox faults, Motor and variable frequency drive faults are some examples of elements studied in literature.
