Abstract
An experimental study was carried out by using high-speed photograph and schlieren method to investigate the spray characteristics of diesel oil containing dissolved propane. The spray developing processes of the blends with various propane fractions were investigated. Spray tip penetration, breakup length and spray cone angle of diesel oil containing dissolved propane versus time under different backpressures were obtained. The results show that the spray patterns of the diesel containing dissolved propane give different from that of diesel oil spray. However, the trends in spray tip penetration, breakup length and spray cone angle of diesel oil containing dissolved propane spray versus time and back pressure are similar to that of diesel oil spray: the variation of the spray tip penetration with time appears as an exponential relation, and the variation of breakup length appears as a negative exponential relation. The spray cone angle not only increases with the increase of propane fractions, but also increases with the increase of backpressure as well.
