Abstract

As the “power heart” of the hydraulic transmission system, the reliability of the axial piston pump is crucial for stable operation of equipment. Therefore, conducting fault diagnosis on it is indispensable for avoiding major disasters and financial losses. This paper reviews the research progress in fault diagnosis and condition evaluation of axial piston pumps. Firstly, the failure mechanism of the pump is explained based on the vibration transmission paths. Then, the mainstream fault diagnosis technologies are classified into three categories: physical model based, data-driven based, and physics-informed intelligent fault diagnosis methods, along with the research status on fault prediction and health management. Finally, challenges and development trends in this field are discussed and concluded. The intelligent techniques summarized are also applicable to the field of pump rotary machinery and equipment, and help the realization of intelligent hydraulic in the era of digital operation and maintenance.
