Abstract

The physical health and well-being of people with intellectual disabilities have not been promoted to the same extent as with non-disabled people. Internationally there is a growing recognition of the many health problems found among this population and the diffi culties they experience in accessing appropriate health services. Their uptake of health screening is low and few health promotion campaigns are targeted at their needs.
