Abstract
Commissioned by the ELISION Ensemble & International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) with support from Creative Victoria. A 'Playking Foundation Asian Performing Arts Travel Grant' enabled me to visit Shanghai to work with sheng master, Wu Wei. The production of this project was supported by a University Research Fund (URF) grant to CeReNeM, the Centre for Research in New Music at the University of Huddersfield.
ELISION Ensemble conducted by Carl Rosman with Wu Wei (sheng, also vocalising) , Paula Rae (flute/base flute), Peter Veale (oboe/cor anglais), Richard Haynes (clarinet/bass clarinet), Timothy O'Dwyer (alto saxophone), Tristram Williams (trumpet), Benjamin Marks (trombone), Peter Neville (percussion), Severine Ballon ('cello) & Joan Wright (double bass).
