Abstract

The preparation and characterisation of a hybrid biscyclometalated coumarin/iridium complex is presented which exhibits intense visible absorption (ε ≈ 43800 dm3 mol–1 cm–1) and sensitises both n- and p-type dye-sensitised solar cells (DSSCs).
