Abstract
The following pieces form part of a series of works that Nic Clear refers to as ‘scatological drawings’. These use the basic format of a cad layout to develop narrative themes, albeit within an abstract compositional framework. Specifically developed to accompany the text, the three drawings shown here are constructed through the juxtaposition of various cultural references taken from the text, from pornography to ironmongery details, graphically constructed by adapting formal organising principles based on perspectival and orthographic projections and parodying GUI layouts. The effect is to create something Clear calls ‘General Dis-Arrangement drawings’. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
