Abstract
The arrival at the top of the state of Narendra Modi and the Hindu Nationalist Party (BJP) resulted in a democratic ebb and revival of the Hindutva ideology, identifying the Indian nation with its exclusively Hindu heritage. Communism and violence against Muslims, collusion of interest between Hindu elites and neo-liberals are eroding the "secularist", pluralistic and egalitarian values formerly defended by the Indian state.
