Abstract

This paper reviews approaches of 3D surface reconstruction, particularly stereo-based 3D surface reconstruction algorithms. After a discussion of their merits, an interest point based fast 3D surface reconstruction is proposed and implemented. The interest point based method reduces the computational time by constraining the search area, compared with exhaustive area searching. Based on the experimental results, some robust features for the approach are reported. Conclusions and further work are derived in the paper.
