Abstract
Notam gir ut tekstsamlingen Karlheinz Stockhausen – En pioner i Utopia.
Notam publishes the text collection Karlheinz Stockhausen - A Pioneer in Utopia . The idea behind the release is to shed light on the composer Karlheinz Stockhausen. With texts by Asbjørn Blokkum Flø and Asbjørn Schaathun, an introduction by Notam's leader Jøran Rudi, translated versions in English and German in one and the same volume, as well as a great collection of photos from Stockhausen's 50-year career, the booklet provides a unique insight in Stockhausen's life and work, seen in perspective from Norwegian composers and academics. The release takes place in parallel with concert performances of two of Stockhausen's works, Mikrophonie I and Hymnen , during the Ultima Festivalin October 2008. These concerts took place on 8 and 10 October, respectively, and were a collaboration between Notam and the Norwegian Academy of Music. It was the first time these pieces were performed in Norway.
Karlheinz Stockhausen (1928 - 2007) was one of the foremost composers of the 20th century and a pioneer in electronic music. His artistic vision and development provided the basis for an extremely rich production of almost 400 works; electronic music with and without instruments, ensemble and orchestra music, works for choir, and operas. His music has had an impact far beyond the environments of contemporary music, not least among musicians and composers in the field of electronics.
