Abstract

Outlines the pros and cons of the big truck, particularly the costs and benefits related to juggernauts in cities, discussing aspects such as road safety; environmental concerns; and the pivotal role played by lorries in food deliveries and industry. Various measures taken by towns and cities to deal with juggernauts are summarized, and future developments are considered. The author concludes that juggernauts will become heavier and possibly bigger, yet safety standards and environmental capability will continue to improve, although it seems likely that lorries will continue to remain unpopular, particularly when used in urban areas. -after Author
