Abstract

This chapter focuses on presenting a numerical method for two-phase ows in microscale systems using the level-set (LS) method of Osher and Sethian (1988). The interface is characterized using an LS function that is modeled as an additional scalar equation as part of the ˆnite-volume method (Patankar, 1980) used to model various transport phenomena. The main elements of the calculation procedure were presented by Yap et al. (2006). This chapter presents much of the same material in a condensed form. As a result, at times, readers are directed to the above-mentioned study for more details. Nevertheless, this chapter is more or less self-contained.
