Abstract

Highlights Lower heating values of neat biodiesel and its blends were measured experimentally.Lower heating value prediction models were developed based on the density and viscosity values of the fuel. The predication models were validated by measured values and previous models. The prediction models were used to predict the lower heating value of 24 biodiesel feedstock types produced globally. The effects of lower heating vale on brake specific fuel consumption and thermal efficiency were investigated.
