Abstract
This chapter discusses about the life cycle assessment (LCA) of cotton textiles and clothing. A brief introduction will be provided about the present production scenario of cotton fibre and textiles and their different application areas. Issues related to sustainability of cotton textiles and the importance as well as methodology of LCA used for these materials will also be discussed. Case studies and examples of LCA studies on different cotton textiles used for apparel as well as technical textile sectors will be provided and discussed in detail. Based on these LCA studies, important parameters influencing sustainability of cotton textiles will be identified and presented in this chapter.
