Abstract

Solo piano piece commissioned by Alex Raineri for Brisbane Music Festival 2025. The piece explores the piano’s sonority in a variety of ways, with a particular focus on resonance. The pedals are treated not simply as sustain mechanisms, but as tools for generating, shaping, and filtering sound. Engaging directly with the strings draws out a range of colours. These sonorities drift in and out of more traditional pianistic textures, creating a fluid sound world of timbral and harmonic elements— a kind of liquid state where ideas flow freely yet remain subtly interconnected.
