Abstract

Novel wavelet diagnostic technology is applied and validated for early detection/diagnosis of local tooth damage in a back-to-back gearbox. An advanced automatic decisionmaking technique based on the likelihood ratio is used for damage diagnosis. Novel results in worldwide terms have been achieved: an early effective detection/diagnosis of micro-pitting in gears with relative pitting size 0.3 - 0.7%.
