Abstract

This special issue addresses the broad theme of academic and activist dialogues between global north and global south – even whilst from the outset recognizing the limitations of those terms – with a focus on gender, sexuality and change, with a special interest in young men, masculinities and young people. More specifically, the special issue derives from the ongoing cooperation research project, ‘Engaging South African and Finnish youth towards new tradition of non-violence, equality and social well-being’, funded from 2012 to 2016 by the national research councils of Finland and South Africa, respectively, the Academy of Finland (grant number 271546) and the National Research Foundation (NRF).
