Abstract
This paper describes modelling methods that are being developed for the evaluation of railway braking control systems. These are to be used in the development of high performance braking control systems. These are to be used in the development of high performance braking control strategies. A particular feature is that the models include higher order vehicle and train dynamics, the effects of which are expected to become important as the performance of braking systems improve.
