Abstract

Modern Showgirl is a research project and sharing platform. Its purpose is to explore the lives and lived experiences of showgirls, women working in entertainment, with an interest in performers of the 20th-century. Showgirls are defined loosely they are professional performers with skills who may perform in a variety of ways: dancing, singing, stripping, incorporating glamour and femininity into what they do.
