Abstract

Earth observation relies heavily on imaging. Extraction of information in turn relies on image processing and analysis. A new and powerful methodology has come to the fore in recent years, based on the wavelet and other multiscale transforms. Of the many possible application areas we describe in this paper some approaches for object and feature finding in images', noise filtering of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images, and the automatic geometrical registration of different images.
