Abstract

The authors describe the optically supported generation of a 30 GHz MM-wave signal, with an electrical linewidth of <1 Hz, from a spectrum slice of the ASE noise output of an EDFA. The technique described has the potential to significantly reduce the cost of a WDM-based fibre MM-wave radio system.
