Abstract

We have demonstrated a flexible optical SSB generation technique which employs two Mach-Zehnder modulators and a fiber Bragg grating. The arrangement allows integration of delay pre-distortion, which can compensate for carrier phase noise generated by fiber chromatic dispersion. Pre-distortion doubles the maximum fiber length which can be employed to transport high-rate, high-order digitally modulated data for mm-wave radio-over-fiber applications.
