Abstract

ISAC has emerged as a high-potential technology for future 6G networks, expanding the communication and connectivity paradigms established by previous-generation networks. By integrating this novel technology with RIS, it becomes possible to combine the capabilities of both, providing enhanced control and additional degrees of freedom (DoF) to the systems. This paper explores the state-of-the-art (SOTA) and identifies the open challenges for the future of RIS-assisted ISAC systems.
